Yeah that’s the part I don’t understand…who would be in that echelon? I didn’t come here for money, either in or out. But I understand that some did. And I get that things change. But I hate the thought of a divide. A few months back there was this sort of ongoing debate about whether people here who were focused primarily on gaining a following and playing the numbers game were being unfairly favored regarding article placement, recommends by Medium staff, and therefore receiving greater exposure (much) than other writers just as or more talented who were writing more substantive or socially relevant pieces. It felt like high school…popular kids could write dreck and hit the Top Stories based on their name and reputation, while the shy kids with the gold never warranted a glance.

Medium staff prickled under mention of the US/them dynamic. But wouldn’t this just create more of that, but magnified?
