Yeah. So, this.

I would really, really love to get my hands on some reliable data regarding campus sexual assaults, alcohol, recanted statements, proven false accusations, etc. Because I’ve asked myself about this stuff since I was a student.

I’m sure it has happened — the drunk girl screws drunk guy and wakes in the morning with no memory of the encounter, and no evidence of what took place beyond a telling soreness below, or she wakes next to him, naked, and starts to panic. Something happens — maybe she ends up with an STD, or a pregnancy — and to save her own reputation she says he forced her, etc.

And I find the scenario repugnant.

I don’t think it’s super prevalent, but like I said, I haven’t found any data I find reliable at this time.

And you’re right, It’s a tough situation. How does one define consent when both parties are under the influence?

I guess I think back to college and try to figure out what, if anything, would have deterred me from my behavior. And I really feel like there isn’t enough promotion of shared responsibility solutions. We either attack men for being predators, or we attack women for getting themselves into a compromised situation. But I think sometimes, the only thing to promote is the truth about the connection between alcohol intake and sexual assault, and pound into the next generation that before they hit the bottle, they need a plan with another person who has their back, and isn’t going to let them screw someone. Even if their drunk ass really, really needed to get laid.

I keep nodding off writing this so I’m going to end it here, before I get too pedantic.

NIGHT!!!

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
