To be in relationship with yourself, your higher power (be it God, Buddha, Nature, Science and Rationality, etc.), and the rest of humanity, by way of accepting life for what it is and loving that, is a much greater task than “loving that one special person”, I think. There aren’t many able to sustain that. He sounds like a little bit of God with skin on. How fortunate for you that he touched your life. Someone like that changes a person. ❤
He may have been a “Jesus freak”, but he didn’t push that on others, from what you have said. Rather, he taught by example. The golden rule doesn’t need religion.
