To be honest, i don’t think you and I are necessarily even that far apart in our assessment of things.

I’m not single-minded, and I’m not stupid, and I’m not unwilling to consider new information or alter my stance based on it.

Where you lost me as a willing participant in a dialogue was when you told me what I was “actually trying to say” in a piece I wrote specifically to address a certain demographic on a specific topic, the subject of which has become a topic of interest because of the election, but which, as is my whole point, has always been present.

I told you what I was NOT talking about more than once, yet you continue to reply by beginning, once more, to tell me what I meant to say. That is invalidating and refusing to take my words at face value, because of your personal experience, and it is the fastest way to shut me down.
