This reminded me of two passages in Rebecca Solnit’s essay, Men Explain Things to Me:

“We still haven’t really talked about the fact that, of 62 mass shootings in the US in three decades, only one was by a woman, because when you say lone gunman, everyone talks about loners and guns, but not about men.”

“Violence doesn’t have a race, a class, a religion, or a nationality, but it does have a gender.”

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
