This made me cry, and miss my daddy, who left us just as he was starting to be open to seeing the world that *I* live in. I feel very fortunate to have experienced even the beginning of that awakening with him, because our country’s pulsating misogyny, I have since come to understand it, runs so deep and so wide I lack faith of it being traversed in even my children’s lifetime.

I am so glad your father allowed your words to find the chink in his armor, where they worked the magic of changing his heart.

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
