This kind of crap--having to jump through years of legal loopholes just to change policy that makes not one iota of sense to anyone with half a brain--is going to be the death of me.
It just gets my blood up. Ugh!
This was a pretty big one, especially for lawyers and litigants, I imagine. But smaller senseless rules are everywhere, all of the time.
My top three OF THE WEEK --
- Security breach at my credit union; personal info is compromised. Credit union closes a giant batch of ATM/credit cards and issues replacements, which are to be mailed. It’s a Friday. I find out something is wrong when I try to pay my waitress and my card is declined. ATM next door says it cannot issue my money to me. I call the bank; there are 37 callers ahead of me. I look online-nothing. I go to the bank-they tell me what happened and issue me a card I can use in 24 hours. They are overwhelmed and understaffed. I ask why no one put a banner notice on the website or a message on the voicemail to field some of the questions (99% of which are “why did my card get declined?”) They stare at me blankly as if I’ve asked them to solve world hunger.
- I was promoted. I moved to my new job on 7/5. No word from HR by my birthday on the 23rd so I went over to see what was up. Paperwork had not been properly submitted ( by management). I go make sure everyone gets their ducks in a row and submits it, HR calls with offer, but tells me they will only pay retro from 7/17. I don’t know what else to do so I accept ( stupid, I know). No one can tell me why an administrative error I had no part in is costing me 2 weeks pay. They said something about not even knowing if the department had an opening at that time. Well. I hope they had one, since my computer and desk were all set up and I was sitting in the chair working. It would be weird to just come in off the street and set up shop.
- World Hunger*. Because, come the fuck ON!!! Seriously?
Sorry for giving in to the rage your sentence filled me with and going off on stupidity. I am not without stupidity of my own. I know that.
(* I can’t even start with this topic because it is made up of a million little truths that make no goddamned sense whatsoever .)
Sorry again. And thanks.
