Seems like we allow ourselves to believe that distance makes for impartiality and thus, truth. In reality it is shared ethos, deep caring; it is our recognized humanity that leads us to the really important truths. Irony only truly works this way.
This is such an underutilized truth. Why is it that we people always choose the path rife with negativity and ignore the one paved with kindness and love? Why must we so often look for the differences between us rather than the similarities among us?
They say that the grass is greener where you water it…water envy, envy grows. Water hatred, hatred grows. Water inclusion and understanding, or even just the attempt to understand one another…what a garden that would be.
