…I understood how separate our nervous systems are from one another. I was way too ‘helpful’ before. I responded to their difficulties as if they were mine because I was taught to understand my own personal nervous system in a distorted, impersonal way. This made for confused interactions. Rejecting the psychological narrative we were taught has helped everyone of my family members reorient how we understand ourselves and how we understand ourselves in relation to others. I could go on and on about this, and am working on a book about it…
