This is a pretty good point, along with your statement regarding where you are in your life right now as opposed to where I am (44 year-old working single mom of 2, educated, and way too busy to incorporate 8 of anything into my mornings). But I have carved out a morning routine with my kids that ensures us about a 90% awesome morning rate, and for me, that’s about as good as gold.

I remember being your age, long before the Internet. I devoured any self-help or motivational book or ideology like they were water and I was dying of thirst.

I used some of what I read, experimenting with different techniques in different combinations until I figured out what worked for me, and what *I* learned from casting a wide net was that no matter what any (usually self-appointed) self-help guru claimed was the path to a happy life, my own secret recipe was the only one that worked for me. It evolved over time, and I learned to simplify the process once I got a few miles under my belt. I borrowed from all sorts of philosophies and created my own, highly specialized motto to live by.

And I share it freely if someone inquires. But experience has taught me that most of us get where we are going using our own unique road. We get help along the way, advice that’s ours to take or leave. But, inevitably, what works for one is almost always different from what works for another.

And THAT’S WHY---

I don’t have much use for the B. Hardys of the world these days…almost anything anyone can suggest is just regurgitation at this point. But the new generation has to hear the classic words meant to heal the human condition somewhere. More than likely somewhere different than where I heard them, right? Doesn’t make them wrong.

You absorb whatever knowledge helps to feed your soul. There is an infinite flow of information, and one day, you will start to whittle it down into something that fits the life you’re trying to build.

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
