The other thing we teach our children (verbally, anyhow) that I find absolutely laughable is to treat people the way they want to be treated. And that no one is more important than anyone else. And to be compassionate, and kind, and forgive those who hurt our feelings because we have no idea what those children’s lives are like. We tell them to love their neighbors . To respect authority. To be polite, and helpful, and inclusive.

And then we grown-ups behave like freaking animals. We exclude those different from us. We exist in a hierarchical system based on skin color and gender and religion and a million other things. We drive around in a road rage, shouting disrespectful remarks or making hateful gestures.

Then we expect our kids to not be totally fucked up because we TOLD them right.

We are a goddamned mess. And any white person who just feels entitled to use that word EVER needs to suffer the natural consequences that go along with that kind of asinine behavior. If it would get the fry cook canned, Bill Maher should be held to the same standard.

He clearly feels superior to the rest of the human race. Maybe that’s because we keep treating him that way.

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
