OMG THIS! I have never heard anyone say this but me!

My father was like this with my mother. He liked to sleep all day and stay up all night. He would lie down for a nap and wake up yelling my mother’s name. Pissed if she didn’t come running. Finally, I realized that it honestly didn’t occur to him (on a subconscious level, anyway) that when he slept, she continued to do stuff and go places and various other awake and existing things independent of what he was doing. I honestly think that unconsciously, he just figured when he went to sleep, she did, too. Or waited anxiously at the foot of the bed for him to wake up and direct her next move.

Once I realized that was pretty much what was going on, I got a whole new perspective on the concept of independence.

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
