I guess I figured you had that angle covered so I went for the other one. It all kind of boils down to the same thing: a systematic expectation of chronic underachievement, and whether it comes out as a pat on the back for parenting your child as if you aren’t on THAT duty 24/7, or as ONE MORE platitude telling a woman “he’s not that bad. Good men are hard to find…better not complain or someone else will scoop him up!”, it is terribly damaging to all involved. Either way, it’s a self-esteem annhilator.
