No. You’re right. I think.
You ladies have set up quite a model here ( not that I understand more than half of it).
I was thinking about the general uproar upon receiving the news that now basically, Medium will be a pay site. I don’t pay for websites. If it requires me to enter into an autorenew situation I will not do It. I have been burned too many times by sites making it nearly impossible to opt out once you’re in or cancel your membership ( this one most frequently in situations where there is a trial period after which one is automatically charged).
But this is our place…so I guess if the compensation was sufficient to make me not care about $25, I would do it. Because I’m both a reader and a writer. If I was just a reader, though? Forget it. A lot of my friends have never seen my work beyond the couple of articles I’ve posted the link to on FB, because they don’t even want to take the time to sign up for an account. But a bunch of them did that, just because they were prompted to after reading my article. And I know they never came back. They still count into the total. I imagine the portion of total members that sign up because of one article and never return is not small. So those people are out.
I don’t know. This is going to be interesting for sure. I’m curious as to how this is going to go down, for real.
