Naa, debate is a whole different animal and we don’t have enough of it in schools anymore. Debate forces you to look at ONE SIDE of an issue, whether you agree with it or not, and argue like a dog FOR that side. Even if it’s the side you abhor, you learn to find out what about it has merit, or how to at least spin it to look that way. I think that, actually, middle of the roaders have the potential to excel in debate.

The disappearance of this practice as a way to vet issues in their entirety, in fact, has in my humble opinion been one of the largest impacts on exactly what is happening in the US today.
