My dear TeriJo …I definitely think the Reverand’s initial response to your poem was a study in asshattery…I will never understand some people’s need to comment negatively on work of a personal nature that isn’t directed at them…or at least, I don’t see why if they have a criticism, they can’t just state the criticism…pointless remarks meant to demean the author, or angling for some ill-gotten laughs at the writer’s expense seem cheap to me at best; cruel in the worst case scenario.

That said, we are on a public forum, and as you know, certain folks here are almost certain to make jackass remarks. My advice is: remember that how someone acts towards you is much more about who they are than about who you are. Ignore them. They are more than likely trying to provoke a reaction and by answering you give them exactly what they want.

Regarding the later message about disliking slang, this is generational and eternal. My parents hated my words. I can’t stand some of my daughter’s. The older generation, in this case, can basically get over it or choose to let it drive them crazy. So if the reverand can’t stand certain terms, I guess he can deal with that. And he can bitch and moan all he wants-time marches on and really doesn’t GAF.

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
