Maybe part of what this country has lost is the healthy fear of looking like a dumbass in front of people with the knowledge and experience to know when it doesn’t know what the fuck it’s talking about.

And maybe it never had that. But I will say that for me, personally, that specific fear has kept me in my seat when I had no business standing up. It has kept my mouth shut when I had no business speaking. It has kept me from offering solutions to problems I can’t comprehend. And I feel like anymore, everyone just pukes their opinions out in front of god and everyone, whether the opinion is based in personal subject knowledge or experience, or a stranger’s viral Facebook rant.

And when they get called out about it, they don’t have the good sense to feel stupid, or embarrassed, enough to prevent them from doing it again.

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
