Light Up Medium, Light Up the World

Does a shiner count as lighting up Medium?

When my daughter turned two, her daycare provider put her on a horse drawn carriage and she fell and hit her eye (see above). She was a bit shocked for a second, and then she dusted herself off and climbed right back on the horse (okay, she got back in the carriage…close enough when you’re two, right?)

She is resilient, and she is strong. She always has been. Then there’s my little guy; the one who had almost maxed out his lifetime health insurance benefit before he was eight weeks old.

Bubbles can’t wash the grit off this kid.

He survived something almost no one lives to tell about. That’s tough.

They’re mine. And they’re beautiful, and strong, and flawed, and human.

And they’re yours.

They are our light.
But they are NOT our HOPE.

WE ARE THEIR HOPE.

And we have a responsibility to help them to be better than we are, so that, God WILLING, their world will be better than ours has become.

so everyone

LIGHT UP YOUR CHILDREN
LIGHT UP MINE

OUR CHILDREN are not OUR FUTURE

OUR CHILDREN ARE THEIR FUTURE.

And they need us to lead the way so that they can have one.

So, SHINE.

I would like to thank Tremaine L. Loadholt for asking for help, which is never easy and always courageous, no matter who or why you’re asking.

And I’d like to express my gratitude to all of you, for answering the call. ❤

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
