I was just reading the Echota Treaty last night, and one of the others…it’s absolutely RIDICULOUS.

I could barely navigate them, and I have a better than average grasp of English vocabulary. These were pitched to non-English speaking people ( none of whom actually had any standing in the tribe, of course) and held up in court. None of the Cherokees could even sign more than an X. It’s disgusting, the entitlement dripping from those men. It was evil.

It enrages me, pretty much. First they forced them off their homeland to “Indian Territory” that THEY (the American “settlers”) chose for them. But that wasn’t enough. They had to come and take THAT away, too. Because they had to have EVERYTHING.

I’m ashamed to have descended from monsters like that. Even if it all started with a rape.

Because, OF COURSE IT DID.

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
