I was being intentionally hyperbolic with the 99% fake stat. After being raised by an unpredictable alcoholic father and an abused mother, and marrying and divorcing a wildly unstable and disordered man, I have been fortunate to meet and develop close friendships with a number of amazing men who have proven to me that what you say is true.

Some, like you, were raised by great parents who modeled for them what successful and respectful interactions and relationships were supposed to look like. Some of them were raised with nothing of the sort and learned how to be good men in more roundabout ways (prison, rehab, etc.)

I have a son who turned 14 last week and my whole purpose in life at this time is to do whatever I can to ensure that he, too, becomes a good man.

Because we are going to need them.

Thanks. ☺

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
