These were second graders, and the grown-ups in charge were giving them the idea that what this boy was doing was acceptable .
So, I told him to ALWAYS do what he’d been doing (not the shoving part), and I told him that an adult should have put a stop to that a long time ago. I spoke to his teacher, and she was full of the “boys will be boys, that’s just what they do” attitude that I SOOO abhor. And I know I shouldn’t add gender to your son’s good deeds, but seriously. In this world, the fact is that if you are female, your voice is just a little harder to hear, it seems. So good for your boy, for hearing his friend, and making sure that everyone else heard her, as well.
