I think social media in general is the 5th horseman of the Apocalypse. I visit Medium probably once every couple of days, but I haven’t been on FB in over a year. I haven’t deactivated or deleted my account (this time) because i don’t feel like hearing about it from my 3,000 aunties who would freak out if they ever checked on me and i wasn’t there anymore, but I probably need to.

In the past, I’ve done it because I wasn’t able to stay away otherwise and I knew it was unhealthy for me. But these days (since Nov 2016, really) I don’t have the slightest desire to even take a peek. So I’ve removed it as much as possible from my phone and i rarely think about it anymore. Usually just when i see Zuckerberg in the news for some new shitshow.

I wish there were a way to get through to reasonable people in this country and get them all to quit social media. If we were gone, the trolls would have nothing to do. The bots would have no one to trick. The shittiest US president in history would have no one to yell at or offend. They are what they are because of the audience they hold captive. Remove that, and many of them would just shrivel up and blow off with the wind.

Good for you for not falling for FB’s shitty manipulations to trick you into breaching your account. :)

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
