I think I’m hearing you correctly, but I’m not totally sure and unfortunately, my guard is wayyy up right now. I’m going to assume you are being sincere. If not, shame on me, ah well.
If you mean what I think you mean, then my response is ABSOLUTELY.
Anyone who mistreats another person by way of abject deceit; particularly when that person is one who should be able to trust them completely ( a partner, or a child, or a friend…) deserves to suffer the consequences of their actions, whatever those may be.
Honesty is pretty much all that matters to me. I tell my kids- the most important quality you can have is integrity. Say what you mean, admit it if you fuck up, and do what you say you’ll do. If you tell the truth, you’ll never have to keep your story straight. But the second you lie about some stupid thing, you lose that. And lies beget more lies. Anyway you’re right, everyone should be held accountable for the same bad behavior.
