I should have clarified, Caleb Ramsby . I was referring to the Weinstein situation, and the actors he supports, specifically. The ones saying these women are crying wolf.
I did not mean to insinuate that sexual abuse/assault is only a male on female crime. You are right, men and boys are abused by both men and women, and the “don’t ask, don’t tell” mentality is rampant in that arena.
Not to mention the tendency, when an adult woman preys on a juvenile male, to treat the abuse as a rite of passage, which frankly disgusts and amazes me every time I come across it.
High five the kid for hittn' that, yo!
Meanwhile the boy is now traumatized by both the abuse and the pressure to pretend he actually feels lucky to have been its recipient.
I wasn’t clear. I was referring specifically to that special brand of mouthpiece always so quick to dismiss any woman who claims to have been harassed or assaulted.
If what happened to these women happened to those men, I’m pretty sure they would change their tune. Of course, you’re right, any of THEM would have kicked Weinstein’s ass. You make a great point about it being less about gender and more about victimization and the disbelief from those who haven’t actually been victimized.
Always easy to think you know what you would do when you haven’t been put in the position of having to actually do it.
