I feel like what you’re glad about is not having Trump for president, but for the fact that now we will be forced to look at our broken system and address it in such a way that real progress can be made. At least, I hope it’s what you are saying. I was talking to a good friend of mine just today about ( and I don’t pretend to understand our government on the level you do) …just as a layperson it seems to me ( and I’m setting aside specific issues because there are places the conservative party goes that I simply cannot follow) that conservatives are more focused on overall outcomes and liberals are focused on individual outcomes and there has to be a middle ground.

But on some things there can be no middle ground. On equality, no middle ground. How CAN there be? A woman’s ownership of her own body. No middle ground.

Those things are free and should be inherent.

I understand that once money enters the picture, concessions have to be made. I know there are lots of steps between totally provided by the government and no government support whatsoever.

The problem is that saying this allows us to start the real work towards fixing what’s broken implies the man is open to other ideas and not determined to take away any small gains we have been able to make. And worse. And I’m afraid of what happens if that’s not the case.

I’m afraid that when he is finished with us it will be a whole new America. Just not one that is ours.
