Alternative Narrative: Genius comes in different forms, some measurable, others unmeasurable. Trump, the broken human that he is, has one of the unmeasurable forms of genius. There is reason for optimism, as his ability to read and measure the needs of the people, if channe…
I brought up Jim Jones to lead to this part. Just because someone is charismatic, and able to perceive someone’s weaknesses and exploit them; just because those being exploited flock to the person and rest happily in their shadow, breathing their expended air…
does not make that person a genius.
I have serious doubts about Trump’s mental fitness, and I have serious doubts about him having even a slightly elevated level of intelligence. I pretty much think the guy is a moron who got gifted a bunch of money — enough money that he could fail, and fail, and fail, and fail, and fail at business and still profit from his inheritance.
I don’t think he has the money he claims. I don’t believe he is an astute businessman. I think he’s probably adequate at conducting honest business, above average at discovering loopholes around honest business, and smart enough to hire men much smarter than himself to handle his investments.
And I have never much liked a single politician in my entire life. I don’t need to like him. And all politicians lie: it’s the nature of the beast. But this shit?
I put it out before the American people, got 306 Electoral College votes. I wasn’t supposed to get 222. They said there’s no way to get 222, 230’s impossible.
270 which you need, that was laughable. We got 306 because people came out and voted like they’ve never seen before so that’s the way it goes. I guess it was the biggest Electoral College win since Ronald Reagan. — From official transcript, Trump’s press conference 2.16.17
Those are just completely fabricated facts. THEY AREN’T TRUE.
Either he doesn’t care that he’s blatantly lying about EASILY VERIFIABLE INFORMATION, or he didn’t personally care enough to personally verify the facts.
Either way, totally fucked up
And when he was confronted about the lie and asked why people should trust his accusations of “fake news” if he was reporting false information, he responded with:
I’m skipping that information, I don’t know, I was just given (ph) we had a very, very big margin. Well, I don’t know, I was given that information. I was given — I actually, I’ve seen that information around. But it was a very substantial victory, do you agree with that? OK thank you, that’s… — some more of the official transcript of Trump’s press conference 2.16.17
And I’m not even going to start on the whole we have people in the White House leaking information about Flynn lying to Pence to the media and the media reporting that fake news debacle.
I KNOW the media is a total shitshow. I don’t trust ANY aspect of the media right now. Which is a great political strategy. I’m not denying the guy has game when it comes to muddying the waters and redirecting attention away from his atrocious behavior and the complete blank spots in his knowledge of American history and gaslighting the whole country with a completely alternate reality that changes every day.
I’m just saying that he didn’t win because he was a genius. He won because a woman, with an extremely questionable political background of her own, was his opposition and people are sufficiently disillusioned about the state of our nation to want ANYONE who doesn’t represent the very cause of their disillusionment.
He won because no one with any sense wanted the gig.
And I absolutely agree about his “tentative” diagnosis. I’ve been saying this for months.
He’s a giant, combustible toddler, complete with tantrums. And God help us all if he ever feels backed into a corner.
