I apologize if you felt attacked. In no way did I intend for that to happen. I am not emotionally or personally invested in this particular article, beyond a shared gender with the author, and an empathetic understanding of the point she’s trying to raise.

I happen to think the problems with the current gender climate are doomed to continue unless a dialogue free from our collective baggage can begin.

There is a LOT of defensiveness and/or distrust coming from all directions, maybe with good reason. But at some point the only way it will change is if all of us stop predicting tomorrow using yesterday and become willing to create a new baseline and move forward. Unfortunately, that will require some seriously evolved ideas that i’m not sure any gender is ready to embrace. And I don’t know what those would be, so don’t ask. I just know what we’re using now isn’t working.

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
