I always told my son what a beautiful heart he had. And a lovely old soul ( all true). We never put it in the context of how he looked, I don’t think…of course when he was little there was much “what a cutie! Little Blondie”..etc…etc. And I never had to reassure him about physical attractiveness-I think he feels like he’s pretty good looking lol…

With him it’s the “smart” thing. He IS extremely smart but he is not rich in common sense and doesn’t understand that telling everyone you are smart is not a great idea.

Weird isn’t it? I distinctly remember more “pretty girl “ focus on my daughter. But she was a hardscrabble tomboy from the get go so she has never given much thought to her beauty. Now, at 14, it has finally begun.

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
