He’s going to get REALLLY good at this concept. And by really good, I mean he will come up with some brilliant dance-around-the-truth phrases, none of which will ever even remotely fool you. At first, he will think he’s fooling you and get bummed when you bust him. But at some point, he will know you’re not going to buy it, do it anyway, and then argue his case. Vehemently. “No, Dad! It’s not dessert. Dessert has to blahblahblah and this doesn’t and so you can’t consider it dessert”.

No, he won’t fool you. But he will get REALLY persuasive, and occasionally manage to sway you to his way of thinking. You will be tempted to apply to law school on his behalf.

Or none of this will happen but that’s how it went down at my house. And it’s exhausting.

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
