Haven’t seen either movie, but saw the photo of Octavia and was reminded of her upcoming role as God in the film adaptation of The Shack, one of my favorite novels of all time. Googled it out of excitement, and all I could find was articles about how pissy White “Christians” are about the role.

If course they are.

Which is why I’ll never be a Christian. I’ve never seen hypocrisy so blaring as it is in the church.

If I, a white girl raised in the Baptist church in southeast New Mexico, had to wait for a novel that portrayed God as a kind, black woman who is very fond of all of us and who loves me no matter who I am, to meet a God of my understanding and for once feel a forgiveness for the angry, and the hypocritical, and the judgmental souls of this world, what does that say about religion, in its “rightness”?

I have faith (yes, actual faith) that the actress’s performance will be one for the ages.

And that she will earn nothing but grief for her efforts.

I swear, some days I just want off this fucking rock.

Sorry to change the subject. These days I’m struggling to stay on topic. ❤

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
