Jennifer, I had some concerns about your story when you repeatedly declined to respond to my questions about what steps you were actively taking to ensure your sobriety. I donated what I could afford, anyway. But if you are intending to do anything with this money other than secure housing, you need to return it to the people who trusted you. Especially Albert. $500 is a LOT of trust. And if this IS for housing, it wouldn’t kill you to supply some sort of proof — your eviction notice and a rent paid receipt would probably be acceptable.
Your behavior upon being addressed directly about certain things you’ve told us that don’t seem to sync with what you’ve posted to FB, etc, is alarming. You are not being attacked. You made a solicitation for donations and should expect to be vetted by the people considering funding your basic needs, and should be happy to answer questions about most things.
Personally, I’m not angry either way; I’m an ex-junkie and a drunk and I’ve run some hustles in my day. I figure anything that happens because of a choice I freely made is my own consequence to deal with. But some truly good, innocent, and maybe naive people trusted you and if you were lying to them, you should really pay them back. It would say a lot about your character.
And I think whatever is going on now, your intention when you joined Medium was good. You don’t have to look back at this as just another pile of wreckage you caused. You can fix it, if it’s broken. If I don’t hear back within 72 hours one way or another, we will be filing a dispute re: this fundraiser. So let me know what your decision is. xo, Alexainie
ANYWAY, FOLKS…I ASSUME THAT WILL SUFFICE FOR HER 72-HOUR NOTICE IF ANY OF YOU WISH TO FILE A DISPUTE WITH GOFUNDME.
Here is Anna’s post about the dispute process if you need more information:
