And yet…you can’t say anything without offending someone.

I have hope because I cannot bear to live without it. But my biggest fear is not TRUMP. In fact, the man is a salesman in the purest sense of the word. What he gave America was a mirror. I don’t think he actually believes half the things he said. He was in it to win it, and he’s gifted with a narcissist’s keen perception and a businessman’s ability to accurately read a room. I don’t think his plan was to serve the people for 4 years. I think his plan ended with the win and now he’s scrambling. Because I don’t think he really thought he WOULD win. I believe he made all those promises thinking he would never end up in the position to carry them out.

And then…people got behind all the outlandish rhetoric. They saw what they had been looking for.

And that is my biggest fear. That we are a nation that was looking for someone to open the floodgates on bigotry and hatred and racism and rape culture. Waiting for someone to make it okay to live those things right out loud And in stereo.

And that that was apparently what we always were.

But, I’m really trying to look at the bright side. Sigh.

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I want it to be spelled right and punctuated correctly. I guess that’s something.
