and that is the thing we forget: it’s not that things are worse now (except for the election campaign, which is just depressing). It’s that people are becoming more vocal about what has always gone on. So that unearths a lot of ugly that before recently, we just didn’t talk about. It’s like straightening up the house vs spring cleaning the house. We’ve been dusting and wiping down toasters and making the surface of things all shiny and presentable. it’s quick and easy and no one asks any questions.
but all that grime we were glossing over; it’s rotting and giving off a pretty rank stench. So it’s time to deep clean.. and if we’re going to commit to really getting the house spotless, we have to arm ourselves with the realization that it’s going to get worse before it gets better.
and that’s what it’s doing right now.
